[feeling artistic]

Hey y'all!

I've been feeling artistic. Too bad I haven't painted in a long, long, long time. The last thing I painted that was beautiful was this mural when I was like 16 and it was with the help of my long time friend, Kathe.

Back then, I used to talk hella shit and sing Teyana Taylor's "Google Me Baby". It was my ringtone. Haha.
And now I'm sitting here trying to paint a self portrait. It. ain't. working.

So I took this break to update the blog about me and life and Salvador!! Cuz I hate this city but I LOVE this city. You know?

I know it's been a hot minute but my internet has been too sucky to do a full blog post, so it only lasts long enough for me to press a button as easy as "reblog" on Tumblr, which is where most of my internet time has been spent in these past two weeks. How are you guys doing? I'm doing well, actually. I've got my schedule down for my classes which are set to start this week! Yay! So I'm taking 5 courses: Race, Class, And Gender in a Multicultural Society, Artistic Manifestations, Painting I, Portuguese, and The Short Story. I'm also a teaching assistant and if I cross my fingers, I'll be able to get this job at this school as a tutor. I got to get to work! I've been sick on and off still, but I've been drinking a Vitamin C solution like water and I've been going out a lot more. Although, I'm going to for sure cut out the going out because alcohol and clubs eat up those POCKETS! Lol. I've been in a better mood, I can have a little dance in my step when I walk down the street. I'm still very aware of my surroundings though, because quite a few people in the program have been robbed or assaulted. It's kind of scary because we all scream "American", you know? So it's like we're practically walking targets. But I've been keeping my hair in the fro and unfortunately, these products are drying my hair out. And I can't even watch Youtube tutorials because I'm like, I want that curl product or that leave-in conditioner...I'm over here looking like Mrs. Frizzle from the Magic School Bus!

I was homesick yesterday and I even checked out the prices of tickets to fly home for a weekend. It's costly, but you know what, it would feel good just to see my moms again, you know? Ain't nothing like a good meal and a hug from mama, no matter what y'all been going through. And I miss Louisiana Hot Sauce, and biscuits and honey, and baked macaroni and cheese, and Flamin' Hot Cheetos, and deep fried chicken, and collard greens, and battered shrimp....I mean, I could go on and on. I just miss home. I've been keeping a more personal journal these days, so my posting has been very sporadic, I'm sorry about that. I've also been thinking about the different directions I might choose to take this blog. What other topics I could write about besides just me...I mean, I'm pretty sure I can get a little boring, haha.

This is more of a check-in post. When I finally remember all of the hilariousness that has been occurring over the past two weeks, I'll let you know! It's been crraaaazy. So until then, I'll give you visual love.

See that there? That's me smiling to you. Telling you that I'm aiiight. And that I'm making it. And that this semester is about to be some of my best work yet.

You betta ask somebody....
